My name is Mary Burton McGee. Im a freelance artist, a wife and a mother, and that is the greatest thing I have ever been called. Burton Designs started from a strange place in my life. My husband had a bad accident that required surgery and a long rehab. It was during that time that I had to channel my worry and anxiety into something to keep me from going crazy! I picked up some clay and just started molding it into something, cant even recall now exactly what. That led to more clay and paints and brushes and canvas' and now Burton Designs. 

 

I have a masters in school counseling but it didn't take very long to know that wasn't what I was supposed to do. I had to be creative! I had to work with my eyes and hands to make me happy. See I love when something I do makes someone else happy. Just a smile from them, not even directed to me, just a smile as they see a creation. It drives me to push myself to do more and new. To bring out the beauty in simple things and to show that beauty to others. My art is my happy place! My studio is my escape!
